Dreams of real life from TV.

It's season/series premier time. I relish September for this reason, and for the changing of the leaves but that's a different story. My life has been so mundane without my shows. Okay, maybe not mundane, it's just been missing something. Right now, I'm thinking, “wow, you're shallow. You're life is missing something because of television?” I know, right? Anyway, I'll be watching some new shows, and mostly shows I already absolutely love. Today's ultimate question: Will I have time for my new found social life? I do have Hulu and a DVR, I think I'll make it. What shows, you ask? Follow me...

There are plenty of new shows but here are some of them I'm thinking about: The William Shatner sit-com, $#*! My Dad Says. Why you ask? DUH! It's William Shatner. Also, Outsourced, looks kind of funny and it's totally art imitating life. I've already checked out the new show Outlaw, and I like it. I'm a Jimmy Smits fan, and he was great in West Wing. I'm hoping for a bit of President Santos to come out in this character.  But, I'll only be watching three new shows because I have so many 'old' shows to be watching.

Speaking of 'old' shows here are some for this season I can't get enough of: There's Glee, with my musical obsession, this just hits the spot each week, and I'm always checking out the extras on Hulu.  Then there's The Good Guys. Bradley Whitford with a porn stache, so comical. I'm sensing a West Wing theme here.  I'm also bringing back the Chuck. A nerdy spy and the hilariously serious Adam Baldwin, need I say more?

All in all, I have my fantasy life (lifes?) back to make up for what I don't have in my real life. Yay for the imagination of others.

HTML coding or Pole Dancing?

I've been trying to re-arrange my blog for a very long time. I spent 4 hours on it last night and 2 this morning, only to realize: I have absolutely NO idea what I'm doing.  I started out with using a blog skin from blogskins.com, which is easy to use, but bothersome to get the way I want it. Then I decided I would try to add widgets, ugh!  Finally I opted to go with the blogger templates and choose a different background, so boring.  Here's the full story:

I've been wanting to change my blog style from the moment I started at blogspot. It's annoying that it's boring, bland and so generic.  I decided to search the web for something, I found blogskins.com. Great images! I really like a lot of them and I decided to add this as my blogskin.  It looked okay but wasn't exactly what I wanted. So, I decided to try editing the HTML which was easy enough to figure out how to add my own links and words, etc.  Still, there were elements missing and I ended up moving on to the next part of my project; Widgets.

GRR! Widgets suck when trying to add them to HTML codes.  Not only did I have to figure out where to put the darn suckers, but also noticed they don't actually capture the same dynamic capability as the widgets offered by blogger.com itself. After playing around with that for a while I gave up and chose to use a generic blog template instead.

How boring are these templates anyway?!  I want to use my own creations as backgrounds and add the blogger widgets with it. But, no, I'm incapable of actually figuring out how, and am frustrated it's taken me this long to decide to stick with the boring stuff.  Maybe I should try something more productive when working on projects, how about pole dancing?

Missing SyFy, Loving good times.

WAAAAAA!!!! I need my SyFy. Stupid cable company and their lame packages not allowing me to get it. I'm missing out on all the great SyFy movies, and new serials. Are there any new shows on SyFy? I guess I can check out SyFy.com, but it's not the same as being able to watch it on the tube.

I just hope they're not doing any new vampire shows. Did anyone tell the network guys that some of us are kind of getting sick of the vampires?!  Well not the good vampire shows, just the crappy ones. And the crappy ones shall remain link-less.  Raise of hands on who wants another Jossverse show with a bit more substance than the last one.

On a less whiny note: Yay for happy fun Independence Day times! This weekend is going to be crazy. I don't think I've had this much social interaction since...well ever. w00t for friends and family, why did it take so long for my social bug to kick in. >.<

Oh, and by the way, Mr. Armstrong, I'm over 30 and I will freely use emoticons, I'm a geek and I have a right!

Yay for a family full of geeks.

I go through my day and need so many different things, such as something to sing and my geek-dom of whatever thing I'm squee'ing about that day. I've come to realize that I need these things because of the influences of others in my life, most notably my family.

When I was about 12 my brother's decided to join a Star Trek club. I thought they were so cool. So, I joined too. This started my love for most things sci-fi. Star Wars, Star Trek, MST3K, the list goes on and on. So, this has been with me nearly 20 years. Thanks Tim and Mark for making my life so geeky. Oh, and this leads to my brother Mark and his wife, Gemma, helping me to go to San Diego for a Smallville Con. Hello?!! There is no level 3, people!

Since before I can remember my Dad has had a computer of some type. He was always getting new things for it, too. Like a 300 baud modem, or whatever size it was, or a new computer screen that could be connected to the VCR. My Dad got me stuck on computers. I was on BBS's (bulletin board systems), which led to forums, which led to chat rooms, which led to the worldwide web, which led to here. Thanks Daddy for making me a computer geek.  Thanks also, for the Shakespeare Festival and getting the Bard in my blood.

Around 10 years old my Mother decided we would watch Hello Dolly! Not only did that get me ape-crazy over musicals, but also Babs. True story, I love Babs in all of her nasally glory! I also have a propensity to recite lines from old musicals when watching them, which bothers anyone I'm watching it with. As such, I have to watch them alone a lot of the time. Thanks Mama for helping me to become the most annoying car-singer there is.  Plus, you help me enjoy crafting, and loving creativity.

And now, because of my sister I'm addicted to B-movies, or C, or D-movies. Now, MST3K may have had something to do with it, but the movies my sister and I have watched, are...Oh so awesome! Have you seen Raptor??? Best Eric Roberts movie EVER!!! I really need those movies to help me get out of those not so pleasant moments. Thank you Brenda for being the bestest sister ever and helping me to love lame-as-ever movies.

So now, with all of my families influence, I have to be one of the most geeky people I know. w00t for geekiness.

Loss and reflection.

Death is the most vile villain that has ever existed. It's necessary to help with the circle of life. Although, I wish I could be the super-hero and take away everyone's pain when a loved one passes. If I had that super-power it would be awesome, but then where would all of that pain go? Pain belongs in the dumpster, where people throw their waste and only remember it when it lingers. Then the pain is taken to the compost heap and used to grow into the most astonishing and exquisite flowers.

I miss everyone I've lost. My grandparents, my cousin Cindy, my friend's son, Andy, and now my Aunt Susan (and so many others). Losing someone let's us reflect on what we have and want to cherish forever. I love them and hope, beyond all hopes, they are in a better place.

It is now time for me to reflect on my sublime life and all it has to offer. I worship the people in my life and long for everyone to know how much I care for them.

OMB

I really decided to do this a little sloshed. How could I refuse? I do the dumbest things when I'm sloshed, go me!
Hopefully there won't be too many mistakes or spelling errors. If there are, then it will take me 15 minutes to write something that is three sentences long. LOL
Today my sis, a friend and I went to the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge.

It was AWESOME! I enjoy going birding and the light exercise wasn't bad. The only two things that were irritating were the sore bottom and the midges. Midges?, you ask. I thought that was a nickname for Margaret.

Nope, they're little flies that like to get stuck in my hair when on a bike going however fast they go. I probably inhaled several thousand unknowingly. OMG 151 tastes like a$$, not that I've ever tasted a$$. Anyway...My sister just said “pull yours out” HA!!!! Well, let's get back to the outing. I saw my two favorite things: Red-Faced Ibis and White Pelicans. If you want to know what those look like, go to Wiki, or the Audubon society. Non-flying was a marmot, skunk, two dead snakes, and carp.
It was 12 miles of absolute bliss for me. I wait every year for spring/summer so I can go up there. Last year they closed it down during the summer and I had no idea. This year I saw they would close it on the 1st of june so I went today. I was so happy, and I have my yearly birding expedition out of the way. There was the trip for the day. YAY.
And now for random crap. Speaking of random crap, I want to win a bag of crap from woot.com I wish I was fast enough, or knew someone at woot that could give me the in. Whoa, I think the room is spinning. Nope, just the 151. Yay for drunkenness. Good thing I have spell check on this thing. :-D

Ooh, 2 minutes left. I love my cast, especially my 15 year old cat Mosa (the siamese looking one). She's adorable.

People think I neglect her because of how much she asks for loves, but I don't. I could pet her for 5 hours straight and she'd still want more. Hmph. And I'm done!!!!,,
So, Ana from Vegan Ana gave me the OMB award (Oh My Blog)

Now because it's an award. I have to do some things, because when you receive distinctions such as this, there are rules:

1. Get really excited that you got the coolest award EVER!
     Check
2. Choose ONE of the following options of accepting the OMB award:

(a) Get really drunk and blog for 15 minutes straight, or for as long as you can focus.
     d00d how can I resist?
(b) Write about your most embarrassing moment.
Okay, I have a TON and it would be impossible to choose just one. (refer to above)
(c) Write a “Soundtrack of your childhood” post.
I could do this if it was TV series.
(d) Make your next blog a ‘vlog’/video blog. Basically, you’re talking to the camera about whatever.
    Really, no, not yet anyway.

(e) Take a picture of yourself first thing in the morning, before you do anything else (hair, makeup, etc) and post it.
I look just as bad in the morning as I do at night.
3. Pass this award onto at least 3, but preferably more, awesome bloggers as yourself. Don’t forget to tell them.
I will pass this on to:
Since I really only know one that hasn't gotten it and I follow, then it will have to be my BFF Erica!

So, next post...in a few minutes will be me blogging for 15 minutes, or probably as long as I can focus! Here's to you Ana.
